This is how it all started.
I don’t know exactly how I got infected with the American V8 virus but it most certainly will be the incredible sound and power.
Already in an early stage I started to make preparations to make it all happen. Fist I bought a house, rebuild it and built an garage next to the house.
The garage 33 x 23 foot has 3 separate compartments, one to build the car, one to paint parts spray booth and one with all the machinery.
When the build of the garage was completed I started looking for an truck, first I wanted an Apache but because there are already a few of them here in Holland I got second thoughts.
Then I came in contact with an guy who imports trucks from the US and he had this 38 Chevy truck. That’s when I knew it, that was the truck I was looking for and bought it.
So now I could start to make the plans on how to customize the truck.
Luckily I found a lot of ideas on the internet, also for parts internet is ideal.
After a while I had the following list on what to do.
*Complete tare down the truck.
*New rear and front suspension with air ride
*new reinforcements in the chassis.
*Make myself a new grille out of stainless steel.
*Replace the rotten floor panel.
*Design and make my own aluminium tank.
*Make one piece of the hood.
*Widen the rear fenders.
*Redesign the dash.
*Get rid of the door handles and hinges.
*Electric windows.
*Do all the tubing and wiring from scratch.
I drove and tested and tuned the truck already and at the moment it's waiting in one layer epoxy to be finisched. If i only had the time for it.
Take a look in my photo album to see what I have done till now.
The last year i have been busy working on my 71 suburban to make it ready for daily driving.
You can see the pictures of the build under the second photo button.
